All Wales Learning Disability Advocacy Network

All Wales Learning Disability Advocacy Network

The All Wales Learning Disability Advocacy Network currently meets up to three times a year to discuss both local and national issues that affect advocacy within Wales and the impact that the service has for people with a learning disability who use it.

Historically, the network agenda has been set by Learning Disability Wales with additional input from the local organisations that are members.

If you are an advocacy organisation working within Wales and are a member of Learning Disability Wales you can join our network by contacting the main office and being asked to be added to the mailing list.

We are currently seeking to review the role of this network, in the light of other new networks being set up across Wales, and are seeking our members views on how we can continue to make use of the contacts within our network to best effect.

The following information has been sent out to all network members and we will be looking at the responses we receive for guidance in taking this valuable work forward during 2007/2008.

We are now considering how best to proceed with the AWLDAN and propose a number of options below:

1. We hold four full-day meetings per year in Mid-Wales, as we have been doing, giving plenty of notice of the dates in advance.

2. We hold one national meeting per annum, supported by smaller regional half day regional meetings, to included North Wales, Mid & West Wales and South Wales.

3. The group identifies one key area of interest/topic around which to hold an annual event, supported by smaller local events to push advocacy issues forward.

If you are interested in joining the network and have a preference for how you would want it to work we would be grateful if you contact us with your ideas
